Facial Fascia Release: The Secret to Youthful-Looking Skin
If you’re in your forties or beyond, you may have noticed a lack of radiance when it comes to your skin. Don’t worry – this is, unfortunately, a common problem for many women with more mature skin.
Whether it’s due to general life stress, a busy work or family schedule or expected life changes – such as the menopause – your skin may not appear as smooth, youthful or illuminated as it once did. If so, you’re definitely not alone. More than 40% of people living in the UK view stress as the culprit when it comes to skin issues, with 32% admitting that family life stress was a common cause of anxiety.
However, Carol Joy London is here to help you regain that radiance and fall back in love with your skin again, with the power of facial fascia massage!
These indulgent massages focus on stimulating collagen production and boosting elasticity for smoother, line-free skin, as well as better definition along your jawline. The ritual can also reduce puffiness around your under-eye area and jaw via lymphatic drainage.
To luxuriate in lasting results from your facial fascia massage, you can further stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production with our exclusive collagen collection – discover spa-quality skincare at home, revealing velvet-soft, youthful, radiant skin every day.
What is fascia?
Fascia is a layer of continuous, densely woven, connective tissue that protects every organ, bone and muscle in your body. It is often rich in collagen, which is the main protein responsible for beautiful, wrinkle-free skin.
Amazingly, massaging your fascia can identify areas of tightness and pain and help release them. This, in turn, minimises stress and releases tension within your facial muscles, soothing tight, uncomfortable skin and relieving facial pain.
Facial fascia anatomy
There are two main types of facial fascia:
- Superficial – this fascia is what gives your skin its essential contours.
- Deep – this fascia sits at a deeper level, below your skin, providing the structure for your face.
Facial massage and face yoga can help maintain both types of fasciae and keep your skin looking youthful and radiant. This kind of facial stimulation can also contribute to firmer skin, preventing sagging and smoothing away fine lines for a complexion that will have everyone asking after your skincare regimen!
In order for your facial fascia massage to produce truly visible results, your skin must be properly hydrated. If your skin is tight and uncomfortable with dry patches, our hydrating skincare collection is the perfect solution, delivering intense hydration for silky-soft skin that boasts lit-from-within radiance.

Facial fascia massage in your own home
While regular spa treatments and a targeted skincare ritual are the best ways to enhance your skin’s radiance, practising facial fascia massages at home can help to prolong the effects of your professional facials.
Performing a facial fascia massage on your own face is easier than you might first think! It also acts as a therapeutic ritual that you can return to whenever your skin needs a boost. A facial roller can help make the process easier, while a face serum will help the roller glide smoothly over your skin.
Incorporating an at-home facial fascia massage into your nighttime routine can help reduce stress, calm the mind and body before sleep and keep your skin looking firm, toned and youthful for longer.
Your facial fascia massage ritual
Excessive pulling of your skin can actually result in more wrinkles, as well as running the risk of harming delicate skin, such as that under your eyes. To achieve truly radiant results at home, follow our tailored facial fascia massage ritual to indulge in the best fascia massage for the face:
Step one
Begin by using your fingertips to gently massage your neck, working upwards towards your face in wide circles.
Step two
Incorporate your chosen serum, smoothing into your skin using your hands and fingertips. Slowly massage across your jaw and temples, noticing any areas of tension.
Step three
Next, you should try to mindfully release any tense muscles. If you’re finding this difficult, take some slow, deep breaths, close your eyes and shift your attention to the movements of your hands, noticing the flexing of your muscles and how your hands glide over your skin.
Focus some more delicate massage in any particularly tense areas using your fingertips.
Step four
Beginning with the left side of your face, glide your facial roller from your forehead out towards your temple, using a gentle pressure. Repeat this step until you feel the tension begin to melt away.
Step five
Move down the left side of your face, from temple to cheek to jawline, using smooth, gentle strokes.
Take a moment to notice how your facial muscles feel – you should be experiencing a sensation of calm, with noticeable tension release.
Step six
Mirror the same ritual on the right side of your face until you feel that same sense of calming relaxation.
Step seven
Switch back to using your hands and transfer the same sweeping movements your used earlier to your neck. Massage our Neck and Décolleté Cream into the skin to lift and tone for a gorgeously youthful appearance.
Step eight
If you’re dealing with dark circles or puffy under-eyes, try applying our Collagen Eye Masks at this stage of the massage. Lie back and relax on your bed or a comfortable seat for 15 minutes as these miracle masks infuse collagen into your skin, ensuring your under-eye area is as radiant and smooth as the rest of your skin.
Step nine
As you bring your massage to a close, your whole face should feel renewed, your muscles light and your mind clearer.
Always finish your massage with an indulgent moisturiser to lock in hydration and keep your skin looking smooth and radiant.
Regular use of this massage ritual as part of your skincare regimen should help your skin appear firmer and more lifted, smoothing your fine lines away.
