The Shine Together Project

Empowering Women Through Self-Care This International Women's Day

At Carol Joy London, we believe that every woman deserves to feel dignified, empowered, and cared for. Skincare is not just about appearance—it is about confidence, comfort, and self-worth. This International Women’s Day, we are proud to support The Shine Together Project, an initiative that reflects our commitment to making self-care more accessible to those who need it most.

On Saturday, 8th March, The Shine Together Project will officially launch at Creative Hub Studio, a female-founded co-working space in Eversholt, near Woburn, Bedfordshire. Created by two passionate, award-winning hairstylists, Kerry Galliano and Janie Tongue, this initiative is dedicated to ensuring that every woman feels valued and supported, no matter her circumstances.

In collaboration with Creative Hub Studio, C2C’s Milton Keynes Women’s Centre, ERGO Styling Tools UK, Carlo Oliveri, and Carol Joy London, the project will collect and restore pre-loved hairstyling brushes, giving them a new purpose before being donated to women in need. As a main partner, Creative Hub Studio plays a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to life, reinforcing its commitment to supporting community-driven projects.

This project highlights the role of self-care in empowerment, reminding us that confidence and dignity should never be a luxury.

How It Works: A Simple Act, A Meaningful Impact

The Shine Together Project makes it easy to contribute:

  1. Donate your old hairbrush – Send it to Creative Hub Studio before Thursday, 7th March.

  2. Each brush is professionally sanitised through a five-step deep cleaning process, ensuring it meets ERGO Styling Tools UK’s 5-Star Shine Standards.

  3. Rehomed to a woman in need at C2C Women’s Centre, offering a small yet significant act of care.

Alongside the hairbrush donations, Carol Joy London has donated its award-winning Cream Cleanser, an indulgent yet essential skincare staple. Infused with moisturising collagen and pure botanical oils, it gently nourishes and restores the skin, delivering a moment of care and comfort. For women in crisis who may have left home without the basics, this small luxury serves as a reminder that they deserve to feel valued and cared for.

A Community Effort with Lasting Impact

The Shine Together Project is more than a donation initiative. It is about fostering confidence, dignity, and community support.

Caroline and Amanda, co-owners of Creative Hub Studio, share:

“We are proud to support The Shine Together Project, a cause that not only empowers women but strengthens the community. This collaboration with ERGO Styling Tools UK provides an opportunity for women to feel their best while contributing to something meaningful. Every woman deserves to feel empowered and confident, and we are delighted to be part of this journey.”

Nicole Fletcher, Founder of Carol Joy London, shares why this initiative is so important:

“At Carol Joy London, we are passionate about supporting causes that uplift and empower women. Self-care is not an indulgence, but a way to feel dignified, valued, and confident. Every woman, no matter her circumstances, should have access to moments of care and comfort. That is why we are honoured to contribute to The Shine Together Project this International Women’s Day and beyond. This is just the beginning—we are committed to leading initiatives that ensure women everywhere have access to dignity, ritual, and the care they deserve.”

Janie Tongue, co-creator of the project, adds:

“When we come together, we create something greater than ourselves. The Shine Together Project is about recognising the power we all have to uplift and support one another.”

Kerry Galliano, hairstylist and co-creator, shares:

“Launching this project in Eversholt on International Women’s Day is incredibly special. Every woman should have access to small but meaningful acts of self-care. Our aim is to not only help individuals feel their best but to inspire others to support those around them.”

Ashlee Ellis, C2C Women’s Centre Manager, speaks to the impact of this initiative:

“We were so excited to hear about this project that ERGO UK and Creative Hub Studio are leading. Women in crisis often flee unsafe situations with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Something as simple as a clean hairbrush or high-quality skincare can offer a moment of normalcy and dignity. These donations will make a huge difference.”
